Our Stories

My Name is Ongera Jessica, I am 52 years old, I live in Luga village in Pakwach, Uganda. There are 15 people who are using the filtered water. Both I and the children collect water from the River Nile.

When I heard about the filter from Pastor Alex Ongom, I was excited to have one. I no longer see the children complaining of stomach pain and diarrhea. I always clean the water storage jerrycans after every 2 days and I filter 60 liters of water every day.

I like the filter so much because of the benefit I got from using the filtered water. When I was living in Nebbi, the water there was not doing me badly but when I return to the village, I started drinking the River Nile water and I started experiencing diarrhea until I was taken to St-Luke Hospital. When they did the testing, they found out that, the diarrhea was caused by the river Nile water I am drinking. Since they brought for me the filter, I only drink filtered water, and the stomach ache and diarrhea I was experiencing have disappeared.
